Sweet Vida was dumped at the Baldwin Park animal shelter by her owner. She was emaciated, neglected and left to fend for herself and her tiny new born puppies. Vida and her pups were put in a cold cement cell where they sat waiting for someone to come and save them. Unfortunately, the chance of a mama pit with babies getting out of the shelter was not likely… Her boobs were droopy and sagging from breast feeding. When pregnant dogs or dogs with puppies come into the shelter, their puppies are often adopted one by one… everyone wants a cute puppy… but often then their poor mother is left to die. Nobody wants to adopt a dog with saggy boobies… even though they will come back up with a little time, nobody wanted to give her that time and her days were numbered. It’s hard enough for a pit-mix to find a home in this country, let alone one that temporarily has an unattractive quality. Luckily, the shelter employees and volunteers loved Vida, she’s such a sweet, kind, loving dog. Often, dogs with pups can be a little grumpy, but not Vida, she welcomed complete strangers into her life and let them handle her pups without blinking an eye. One of the shelter employees loved her so much she made the shelter keep Vida and her pups alive for just a few days longer, with the hopes that someone would see how special she is and take her home. But sadly time ran out again, and this time there was nothing the shelter employee could do for Vida, and that is when she called in a plea …

The IDF field hospital is currently the largest operating in Port-au-Prince. It has a staff of over 40 doctors, with different specialists, nurses, paramedics and features a maternity ward, ICU, pediatrics unit, internal medicine department, a pharmacy, and operating rooms. The hospital can treat up to 500 patients a day.
