My husband and I are planning to get pregnant in 5 months. I was wondering how far in advance should I begin taking prenatal vitamins?

I just found out I am pregnant… yay!
I went to buy prenatal pills (I’ve been on folic acid for awhile now, but I figured I should go the whole way now!) and there was something else called DHA sitting next to the pills. I checked the prenatal pills and they don’t have DHA in them. Should I be taking this DHA or not?
I do know what DHA is, as I am a nurse but I don’t deal with babies at all and am not as up with all that.
Moonda – um… I’m not sure what exactly you are saying. What you are writing makes no sense. I do know DHA will NOT kill my baby and I AM ALREADY pregnant. If you are a nurse… as I am, you would at least know that…

I’ve started taking my prenatal vitamins
and I hear that one of the good side effects is that your hair grows (and nails).
How soon after you started taking them did you see your hair growing faster? Or did you not really see a difference at all?
